Good News! We have added this beautiful and unique caravan to our mini fleet. Mary has been an adoring fan of the Bailey caravans and finally got her way.
Bailey of Bristol is a UK brand that made an Australian upgrade version built by Bailey Australia. Bailey unfortunately left us a few years ago so now the caravans in Australia are a sought by those who love the unique layouts and features.

Why we love our Bailey
The Bailey Unicorn Cartagena is so easy to tow with dual axle torsion bar AL-KO suspension and will save you money at the pump with its light weight. While it’s a dream to tow in is still very roomy and luxurious feeling inside at 21feet. The most impressive feature is the massive large windows all around the lounge and dining area. The feeling of sitting on one of the two large comfortable lounges and being able to easily view the outside on three sides is amazing. At the same time the Bailey is extremely well insulated against inclement weather and suitable for winter camping with gas/electric central ducted heating throughout the whole caravan. Or, during the summer there is a rooftop aircon to keep you cool. Either way this caravan has a unique feel to it. We were so impressed when we took it out for it’s test run on a hot Saturday then sat and watched a terrible wintery squall roll over the caravan park smashing our unfortunate neighbours camper trailer while our Bailey stood rock solid and snug all night long.
The Cartagena Layout and Creature Comforts
The Cartagena offers a layout that is suitable for a couple with its east/west island bed or you can rearrange the pillows on the lounges into two adult length single beds or you can pull out the hidden slates and quickly you have another comfortable double bed. We have also just installed a luxurious deep pillow top mattress on the main bed. You just might have one of the best sleeps on a holiday ever. In the Cartagena the layout it is unfortunately a bit awkward to get to the bathroom with the bed pulled out. We have quickly adapted, but you can just push the bed back into the retracted position during the day if you don’t like squeezing past the bed. The bathroom ensuite uses the whole rear end of the caravan and while it is a bit more snug than currant Australian models with rear ensuite on 2 berth couples caravans, it is more than adequate with a roomie shower and cabinet storage for all your stuff. No need to keep your things in a bag and bring them out when you need them. You can actually unpack and stow your things within reach. The midsection kitchen has a gas stove, oven, microwave, large fridge with seperate freezer on top and again ample storage. The style of European caravans is to have hot water available all the time while camping. This Bailey uses the super efficient Swedish Alde hot water and central heating system that is easy to use and has been a welcome surprise by us after being used to the somewhat finicky Australian systems. You will enjoy the set and forget hot water and heating on this caravan.
Does our Bailey have your interest?
While this Bailey caravan is a little older than the rest of our mini fleet it will suit relaxing on summer holidays or going away for a long winter trek for your winter break. It is different that the usual caravans we see around and you will love its versatility and comfort. When this Cartagena was born it was a top of the range caravan and it still shows. We are making upgrades and improvements over time and will be hanging onto this caravan for awhile because we love it. Who knows, if our hirers do like it as much as we do we may look to add another one similar but with a different layout. The Bailey has a strong patented Alutec body but we will not approve ours for off road hires. Please ask us about our Ezytrail Parkes 15 Hybrid if you wish to go off the bitumen or camp without power and water(aka “free camping) for more than a day. It will keep out the dust, has better clearance and has an A++ outside kitchen, not to mention a king size bed! It is not worth risk to take our Bailey off the beaten path as repairs are expensive and are a long process on this caravan because parts need to be imported from the UK now.
To Tow or Not to Tow
Don’t want to tow a caravan? No worries! We can set up this caravan up on your preferred campsite. Deliveries start at $150 or 1.70/km towed. Perfect option for a hassle free seaside glamping trip. We can even provide some extras upon request. We have some basic bedding, towels, chairs or an outdoor table.
Can Jack and Mary help us?
We are experienced campers and can help you with your special needs. We offer flexible hours of pick up and drop off and we are available on some holidays and weekends, at no extra cost, with prior arrangement. We are only a phone call away if you have issues. We are good with advice and have been following the caravan world for many years. If you are trying to find out if caravans suit your lifestyle then have a try! We are happy to talk caravans and can help you decide what type of caravan would suit you before you buy. Or maybe you will decide you don’t want to look after one and become one of our wonderful annual hirers. Caravans are our passion but unfortunately we still have to work to pay the bills so please be aware that we are working around our ‘day job’. We will work very hard to accommodate deliveries and set ups when needed but we may ask for some flexibility in delivery times if we can’t get time off work. i.e. Sometimes it might be easier to have the caravan delivered or be picked up the night before your hire. It is worth talking to us and seeing what arrangements can be made.
What about the dog;-)?
We love camping with our dog and pets are allowed, but remember extra cleaning or repairs are the responsibility of the hirer. Caravanning with pets brings extra responsibility and if you haven’t done it before we will be happy to give tips. Be aware that not all caravan parks allow pets or don’t allow them during the summer. Talk to the caravan park first and please speak to us prior to booking.
What we provide
We will put a mattress protector and fitted sheet on the main bed and supply a protector or sheet for pull out bed in lounge area. We will also supply you with the basic camping needs- tea, coffee, hot chocolate, a set of utensils, pot and pan, mixing bowls, storage containers, salt/pepper and some spices, and a ground mat, inside mats and stool for the entryway door among some other useful items like aluminium foil and toilet paper. There will also be cleaning supplies and toilet solutions for your convenience, but please make sure you leave these items for other hirers. The cost of replacing caravan contents taken by hirers has made us reduce the variety of what we provide and ask ourselves wether we should provide any contents in the future. Jack is a super trusting guy and he doesn’t always see if something has gone missing so please let us know if something needs addressing or if there is something else we can provide that would make your holiday more comfortable. Return the caravan clean including toilet emptied and cleaned, but leave the sheets and windows for us to do. Windows are very sensitive to scratching so we prefer to clean them ourselves. If our Bailey is returned not cleaned or toilet needs dumping cleaning fees will have to be charged to your bond. If you want a full service hire and want us to take care of all the cleaning let us know and we are happy provide this for you. We appreciate booking this because we need to know how much time is needed to prepare our caravan for its next hire. We can also add in towels, extra bedding, outside table and or chairs if needed but again please do let us know as soon as possible as supplies are limited. ****Please note that all services like cleaning and delivery and extra hire items are booked directly with us****

We are pet friendly. Our van is insured for hirers. Extra cleaning, missing items and damages are deducted from the bond, Return our van in same condition as it leaves so your bond is returned to you in full.
